Featuring Akebono as Sekiwake and Musashimaru in the 'off-banzuke' Haridashi post of west Komusubi this is a rare banzuke nowadays. Akebono won the tournament, his first, with a 13-2 record and was pushed till the end by Wakahanada (future Yokozuna Wakanohana III who went 11-4 in mid-maegashira.)
